The Information Design Association is closing down.
The Information Design Association (IDA) is a UK professional society founded in 1991. It was formerly very active, with regular evening meetings in London and a series of international conferences. However, since the 2014 Information Design Conference, the IDA has become mostly inactive, and a recent attempt to revive it did not attract sufficient interest.
The founding generation is retiring, and many individuals who previously would have joined the IDA can now adhere to other professional groups focused on service design, UX, sign design and data visualisation. The International Institute for Information Design (IIID) remains available as an active member-based organisation that information designers can join.
We’re sad to be saying goodbye, and will treasure memories of numerous conferences and meetings, over thirty years.
